Forex stands for foreign exchange. It’s also recognized as FX. Another term used for forex trading is currency trading. Here, we mean forex trading as currency trading — the activity of buying and selling currency. In forex trading or currency trading, the currencies are traded in pairs. For examples: Euro-US Dollar (EUR/USD), US Dollar-Japanese Yen (USD/JPY). Some other popular pairs (in short written) are: GBP/USD, EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, USD/CAD.

Based on the explanation above we can conclude that, in forex trading, the purchase of one currency involves the simultaneous sale of another currency. This illustration may be a little clear. Imagine that you are trading in USD/JPY pair. When you buy USD, this means that you sell JPY. Otherwise, when you sell USD this means that you buy JPY. In other words, you exchange the sold currency for the one you buy. The first currency in the pair is called the base currency, while the second currency is called the counter currency.

Related to forex trading, here’s forex market. Forex market is the market for  trading currency. In this market, the traders are widely dispersed. The forex market is not centralized in a certain place. All the transactions are done with the use of phone or electronic network.

The forex market is affected by other factors. Some of the factors are inflation rates, government securities, market psychology, political conditions of some countries, etc. The access levels you can have also depend on how much money you are prepared to do the business.
